Summary/Abstract: The article describes the development of the French-German Reconciliation – a necessary condition for post-war European bonding. Previous historical evolution of the relations between the states was too bloody and that’s why the reconciliation – although from today’s point of view it seems easy – was a difficult task. Thanks to two great public figures - Charles de Gaulle and Konrad Adenauer, the Elysian Treaty was signed, which brought definitely an end to the painful history. The treaty itself was rather official document and its content wasn’t too revolutionary. But its symbolical importance was enormous for both nations. The cooperation between France and Germany was an essential point and their unity represents moving force of the construction of the “United Europe”.
