Summary/Abstract: In this scientific study the author refers to the chapter from the history of the relationship between state and church in the period from 1948 to 1989. The main aim is to document the transformation of the relationship between the state and the Roman Catholic Church in the Catholic religious instruction, with respect to the region of South Bohemia and the Diocese of České Budějovice. The whole study is divided into several sections that correspond to the transformations of the political system in the Czech lands as they occurred from 1948 to 1989. Each section depicts, on the basis of professional literature, archival research, compiling and analysing statistical data, the struggle of the Catholic Church for the influence on the school youth and the direction of the education of the youth.
