Summary/Abstract: The article deals with the borrowings from Lithuanian (Lithuanisms) in Byelorussian and its dialects. They arrange a big sheet within the structure of Byelorussian language. They denote goods and conceptions significant for an individual’s vital functions and are joined in such subject groups as symbols of people, representatives of fauna and flora, names of buildings, vehicles, kitchen and fishing attributes, clothes, footwear, meals etc. The main Belarusian and Baltic schools in exploration of borrowings from Lithuanian are pointed out. The examples of ancient Lithuanisms, testified in old Byelorussian manuscripts and the examples of new borrowings functioning within Belarusian-Lithuanian borderland are given. The nature of semantic interrelationship of Lithuanian words and their Belarusian equivalents is determined. As a result 4 types of such interrelationship are revealed. They are: borrowings with the identical semantics and borrowings with lack of coincidence, intersection and inclusion.
