Summary/Abstract: For the evaluation of the economic situation of enterprises in practice financial analysis is used. It is possible to use the bankruptcy and credible models. However, all mentioned methods have quite a significant disadvantage. These are financial indicators that do not include the economic dimension of the nature of phenomena and the risks connected with business practice. Therefore there are indicators such as market value added and economic value added. The paper deals with the application of the indicator of economic value added and its interpretation in the case of the company Evraz Vítkovice Steel, Inc.
