Summary/Abstract: The first part of the paper touches the risks and benefits of the monetary union accession, in more detail it deals with the risk of the price level growth and the related risk of perceived inflation. The second part is focused on the concrete case of Slovenia as a new Euroarea country, relatively similar to the Czech Republic. This part also contains the description and the analysis of inflation in Slovenia in the period before and after the Euro adoption. The final part of the paper draws the attention to the comparison of inflation development in Slovenia with the development in Europe and it indicates possible connections. It is theoretically based on the optimum currency area theory and other findings from the field of nominal and real convergence and its relation to the inflation.
