Summary/Abstract: The article analyzes the state of the two largest commodities exchanges - Brno Commodities Exchange (PBB) and Mercantile Exchange Hradec Králové (OBHK) - that operate in the Czech Republic and deal with plant and animal products. Further, there is compared the development of prices of bread wheat at PBB and prices that were paid to farmers and primary producers by ČSÚ in the time period 2005-2009. It also briefly outlines the situation of similar exchanges in the Central European region in so-called „new free economies“.
