Summary/Abstract: Democratic civil control functionality represents one of the fundamental components of a grounded democracy. In this sense, one of the most important sectors of a state - intelligence - must be thoroughly controlled by civil society to prevent severe abuses of power. This paper aims to demonstrate the functionality of democratic civil control in Romania in relation to intelligence services, starting from specialized studies and updating the research with a case study on an abuse committed by a security service.
