Summary/Abstract: The present study reveals aspects of the activity of the League for the Defense of Human Rights in Romania, based in Paris, one of the most effective organizations that have been active in exile since 1977. Within the Ligue, Mihnea Berindei is the one who took care of the Letters forwarded from Radio Free Europe, letters that he considered particularly precious due to the information he gathered from here. A connection was created, in wich the Romanians in the country expressed their helplessness, and the exile gave them a voice and disseminated their message in the world. It was the most honest method for the exile to keep a record of the atmosphere inside the country. The letters were not only informative. There is also a concrete component of them, in the sense that the League used the means at its disposal to intervene in favour of desperate cases the arrived at the radio stationˋs editorial office.
