Summary/Abstract: Romanian sociologist Petre Andrei analyzes the characteristics of Italian fascism, starting from the great European crisis and the end of the liberal state, which had begun to express itself on the continent. The First World War aggravated the crisis by impoverishing the masses causing acute social conflicts which, especially in Italy, gave fascism the opportunity to become a violent movement, to seize power and suppress democracy. Romanian fascism is no different and the violence of its ranks drives Andrei to commit suicide.
