Summary/Abstract: In case of extinguishing in closed areas like houses, operating halls, tunnels etc., in most cases a risk to health and lives of present people occurs, including the rescue workers. These are threatened mechanically, by an impetuous stream of extinguishing medium as well as by chemical vapours of burning objects and by vapours of extinguishing media. Along with this problem there is a notable damage of equipment which is placed in the previously mentioned premises. A new principle of extinguishing in closed areas is based on the use of the hydro aerosol stream, which is applied under a low pressure (a mechanical damage of extinguished object and present people does not occur), the applied aerosol reduces the heat by its evaporation, and in case that no ionising additives are used, it does not even damage electrical devices by their short-circuiting. It is very important that together with the water mist there is a pressurized air supplied to the epicentre of the fire.
