Summary/Abstract: The Colombian culture, characterized as a component part of the Latin American cultural space, was created by gradual coating and penetration of imported cultural paradigms into the original, aboriginal culture. This process commenced at the beginning of the 16th century and has been in place ever since. Its history includes three significant immigration waves: the arrival of the original Spanish conquistadors and settlers, who were the cause of the primary creolization of the Colombian culture, as well as later waves of African and Arabic immigration. The above development has been one of the reasons for the heterogeneity of the Colombian culture, which is, however, connected with a high degree of tolerance and cultural integration of individual ethnic groups in the territory of Colombia.
