Summary/Abstract: Consumers usually want to create and maintain a collection of products and services that satisfy their needs and wants in both present and near future. To achieve this objective, households make many purchasing decisions and the major financial sources for buying are not only income and wealth, but also credit. From an individual’s point of view, these sources are available for spending according to their social, personal, psychological and other factors. Several factors determine the use or forgo of the credit. Credits enable households to spend future income now or in near future. To analyse and discuss Czech households’ indebtedness within current economic situation is the main objective of this paper.
