Summary/Abstract: Taking into account the overall changes in human life in the 21st century, it is important to note these changes on a cultural level, and in our case, the production of folk musical instruments in conditions of overall globalization. The proposed topic will allow us to understand and highlight some aspects related to the making of folk musical instruments in the Republic of North Macedonia. Field research conducted in the period of 2008–2022 allowed us to follow the work of several makers of folk musical instruments who have their own story of how and why they started making instruments. Bearing in mind that instrument makers are people who possess skills for processing the materials from which the instruments are made, we will mention some of their methods in the process of making the instruments and their components, methods that were developed by the makers themselves. There will be a presentation of the materials used to make the instruments bagpipe, zurla, kemane and drum, showcasing the changes of the materials used to produce some of the instruments. In addition to the empirical findings, a review will be made in this paper of previous researchers who were concerned with the making of folk musical instruments in the past.
