Summary/Abstract: The objective of this paper is to analyze the term of human rights and fundamental freedoms and their development. The author of the contribution used the logical method, the historical method and the analytical method. The contribution is divided into two parts. Logically, the first part is devoted to analyzing the concept and the second part the history. The first part follows the acknowledged authors in the field of human rights and fundamental freedoms and compares their views. In the second part of the paper the author focuses on the specific historical issues which are considered to have played important roles in the development of human rights, especially in the European territory. This approach is justified in the view of the purpose of the paper. The author pays her attention to the fact that the contribution does not follow the provisions of the legal acts which guaranteed human rights, but clarifies their background.
