Summary/Abstract: Research, development and innovations are in these days considered to be the main driver of economic development. Because of that a great attention is paid to the innovation policy in which it is ideal to apply a systemic approach focused on cooperation of players. Innovation vouchers belong to the instruments supporting cooperation between public and private sector. In the Czech Republic the Region of South Moravia has started to implement innovation vouchers and the instrument spread quickly to all Czech regions. The aim of this paper is to analyse the implementation of innovation vouchers in European regions and to provide the recommendation for Czech regions based on foreign experience. It is clear that detailed ex ante and ex post evaluation and simple administration is necessary for successful implementation of innovation vouchers. The particular form of the instrument must be specified according to the needs of players in the regional innovation process.
