Summary/Abstract: The paper focuses on economic aspects in the concepts of foreign activities of thirteen Czech regions. It defines paradiplomacy, its main actors and their main motivations. It compares how Czech regions define their economic aims in their external relations. Based on the analysis of strategic development plans of particular regions the article shows and explains five basic economic aims of Czech paradiplomacy: 1) pursuing of regional economic interests abroad; 2) ensuring of direct foreign investment; 3) development of international tourism; 4) ensuring of qualified labour force; and 5) internationalization of science and research activities. It points out the different attitudes of Czech regions to economic paradiplomacy and the different importance of partial aims for every single Czech region.
