Summary/Abstract: A free exercise of the right to the local self-government represents one of the inherent pillars of modern democracy. A method of constitutional establishment among the European countries is different. Some of them consider the right to the local self-government within the constitutional bases in the basic provisions of the Constitution, or as in case of the Slovak Republic or Hungary, the explicit guarantee of the right is absent. The aim of this paper is to analyze the constitutional enshrining the right to the local self-government in the country of the Visegrad Group.
