Summary/Abstract: The text discusses complex relationship between democracy and ecology. Ecology and democracy are connected by multiple processes: natural, social, political, climatic, economic, cultural, demographic and technological. The human species has learned to use nature, with the ambition to master its laws and resources. This led to the disturbance of a certain natural balance on the planet. Some authors say that democracy and the environment are endangered species. It is important for democracy to develop awareness, responsibility, ecological sensitivity and sensibility for environmental problems. They mention „climate democracy“, which is intended to create a (social, cultural, economic and political) „climate for democracy“. Due to the state and problems in which the planet Earth found itself, it is necessary to have a stronger influence in shaping the future. It seems that a greater involvement of active citizens and civil society is needed in order to find better solutions and a way out of the current situation.
