Summary/Abstract: The interwar period is not only the era of the professionalisation of the Hungarian journalism, but also, coincides with the emergence of women in the fi eld of intellectual work. With a few exceptions there has been little research on the literary work of women writers/journalists working in the editorial offices of various daily newspapers, and even less on their journalistic work or the extent to which this work was seen as a career option. Similarly to the development of male career models, journalistic and literary careers in the lives of women journalists of the period are shaped in parallel, and sometimes interact. In my essay, I will focus on the journalistic aspect of Zsuzsa Thury’s career as a writer and a journalist, which began in the 1930s, and I will try to outline how a woman’s (journalistic) career was positioned in Transylvania between the two world wars, based on her articles published as a reporter of the Ellenzék in Kolozsvár (Cluj), her literary works published at the time, and her autobiographical reflections on this period.
