ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES OF THE CONCEPT OF HUMAN SECURITY

Summary/Abstract: The concept of human security emerged in international relations in the 1990s. The United Nations Development Programme's Human Development Report offered seven categories that constitute human security. However, the lack of a precise definition of the concept of human security has resulted in certain consequences and state polarization regarding whether to adopt a narrow or broad understanding of this term. This paper presents the advantages and disadvantages of the concept of human security, which are believed to be a direct result of the absence of a precise definition of this concept.
