Innovative Opportunities of Management of Local Self-government Authorities

Summary/Abstract: The local self-government has an irreplaceable role in the care of the overall development of the territory and the needs of the people living there. To ensure the development process it must be flexible enough to respond swiftly to stimuli of constantly changing external environment. This requires high demands and requirements to ensure the productivity of the internal environment of a particular organization. The key to such a solution is the constant support of the innovation potential in the management of self-government authorities, ensuring the development of innovative projects and translating them into real products and services. This paper studies innovative opportunities in the management of local self-government authorities with an emphasis on selected management functions and strategic management, process management, customer orientation and human resource management. The results point to the unsatisfactory situation especially in the field of strategic management and process control, partly in human resource management. The most favourable situation in the field of innovation was reflected in customer focus.
