Summary/Abstract: The health literacy of the population is considered an economic priority and an important part of the social capital. The factors causing inequality include living conditions, health-related behaviour, education, occupation, income and others. The goal of the paper is to assess the influence of selected social and economic aspects regarding health literacy of adult citizens living in the South Bohemian Region. The study was a quantity use of a standardized questionnaire designed for the identification of the population`s health literacy. The selected sample group consisted of 303 respondents between 18 and 64 years.
