Methods of online sexual offenses committing regarding children in the Republic of Moldova

Summary/Abstract: Developments in information and communication technologies have greatly influenced the phenomenon of child sexual abuse and exploitation. Technology has become a facilitator in committing sexual crimes against children, in producing and dissemination of child sexual abuse materials, in seducing children for sexual purposes, but also in sexual exploitation. Today, technology allows abusers to be closer, to interact with more children at the same time, to develop their own networks of abusers with the same interests on a larger scale than before. In the Republic of Moldova, the phenomenon of sexual abuse and sexual exploitation in the online environment is insufficiently explored and known, reaching the public agenda only after the ratification of the Lanzarote Convention in 2011.
