Summary/Abstract: The union of 1918 was and remains the most sublime page in the Romanian history. Its greatness lies in the fact that the realization of national unity is not the work of any politician, of any government or party, it is the historical deed of the entire Romanian nation, realized in a momentum that burst from the depths of the consciousness of the unity of the nation, a momentum controlled by political leaders, to guide it with remarkable political intelligence towards the desired goal.Referring to the Union as the most miraculous achievement of the Romanian people, Nicolae Iorga wrote: “On this day has come an hour that we have been waiting for centuries, for which we have lived our entire national life, for which we have worked and written, we have fought and we have thought. The hour has come when we also ask the world for the right to live for us, the right not to give anyone as slaves the fruit of our labors”.
