Summary/Abstract: The liquidation of the Greek Catholic Church in Czechoslovakia was part of the extensive anti-church measures of the communist regimes under the control of the Soviet Union. The presented study pays attention to the progress of the totalitarian regime towards the church in Czechoslovakia with an emphasis on identical or similar practices in the Central European area. It identifies the effects of events from Poland and the Soviet Union on the process of liquidation of the Greek Catholic Church and deals with its course and consequences for society. An important part of the study are the reactions of Greek Catholics to the forced Orthodoxisation.
