Summary/Abstract: The paper elucidates the analysis of the contents and the form of the two films by director Vladimir Balco - Postoj (Attitude, 1988) and The Rivers of Babylon (1998). Both films have a very powerful sodo-critical dimension, however, each of them employs a different set of artistic devices. While Postoj reflects the director's effort to give an authentic and veritable account of events along the lines of socialist realism, The Rivers of Babylon resigns to a stylised parody of the allegorical type. Despite the social thrust of both the themes, the author unravells certain formal imperfections in Balco's capturing of the theme and a negative approach to the narrated events.
