Summary/Abstract: In today's turbulent, dynamically changing and interconnected world, security is one of the decisive factors that significantly affect the level of prosperity and development of human civilization, as well as the sustainable growth of the standard of living and quality of life of the inhabitants of our planet. This is one of the reasons why, in recent years, increased emphasis has been placed on improving the management of processes and activities related to and leading to a higher level of safety and the prevention of hazardous and crisis events and phenomena. An efficient tools to achieve this is security management. Therefore, the author deals with this still relatively young, but rapidly developing discipline of management aimed at ensuring the safety of reference objects. The objective of this contribution is to use the general theory of management and relevant methods of scientific research to contribute in particular to the extension of the theory of security management and its profiling as a specific type of management.
