Summary/Abstract: Religious education is a manner of bringing pupils closer to God by means of transmitting and shaping attitudes and behaviours that are based on moral-religious values. Presenting pupils with a religious perspective by means of religious education in school represents a contribution in terms of culture, value, spirituality and social charater. The Saviour’s relationship with his disciples is a principle of the religious education that is offered in school. Emerging from this fact, in order to ensure an effective communication of the teaching of faith, but even more importantly, in order to inspire pupils to believe in God, the teacher must firstly be a role model, and secondly they must lead to the creation of a personal relationship, and thus gain credibility. The teaching of Religion in school is a missionary act that can contribute in an essential manner to the development of the Christian ideal by the transmission of the Gospel message, representing, at the same time, a fundamental exigency of the Church within its work that aims at man’s salvation.
