Summary/Abstract: The main topic of the article, besides a short introduction to history of Olomouc University/Lyceum and teaching of historical disciplines in the long 19th century there, is the way of interpretation of auxiliary sciences of history in the textbooks written by the men professionally connected with Olomouc Faculty of Arts: Martin Johann Wikosch (1754–1826), Karl Johann Vietz (1798–1872) and Adolf Ficker (1816–1880). The analysis pays attention primarily to usage of the term “auxiliary sciences of history”, disciplines put among them, also length and subject matter of each reading. With respect to differences in the three examined texts the space devoted to chronology is remarkable while palaeography was almost omitted. As the third interesting piece of information gained from the study is an understanding that among the auxiliary sciences of history are put some disciplines of natural science.
