Summary/Abstract: In this article, the author presents a series of information regarding the ethnography collection within the Diocesan Museum of the Catholics of Moldavia from the village of Săbăoani, Neamţ County. The Diocesan Museum of the Catholics of Moldavia from Săbăoani was established in 2002 at the initiative of His Excellency, Petru Gherghel, Bishop of Iaşi. The Diocesan Museum of the Catholics of Moldavia, organized in the village of Săbăoani, Neamţ County, includes ethnographic, archaeological, historical and ecclesiastical exhibits, representative objects of the Catholic cultural heritage from Moldavia. In the museum building, the exhibits are arranged in 8 rooms, of different sizes, plus the related halls. The most generous space is occupied by the ethnographic objects. The exhibition presents authentic objects (from Catholic communities in Moldavia) regarding folk architecture, the traditional occupations (agriculture, animal husbandry, fishing, pottery), the crafts. Also, the ethnographic material on display illustrates the traditional activities of processing fibres and threads (hemp and flax, mainly, but also sheep’s wool). The traditional interior of an old house is partially reconstructed. Valuable interior textiles and traditional wear items (both women’s and men’s traditional costumes) are on display. The display of ethnographic objects was done freely, on panels (anchored to the wall) and wooden supports, with cloth covering. The ethnography exhibition was designed by the distinguished university professor PhD. Ion H. Ciubotaru (reputed ethnologist from Iaşi, scientific researcher and honorary member of the Romanian Academy, author of the monumental monographic trilogy entitled „The Catholics of Moldavia. The World of Their Traditional Culture”, published in 1998, 2002 and 2005), and the selection and placement of the exhibits was done by PhD. Elena Florescu, museographer and ethnologist from Piatra Neamţ.
