Summary/Abstract: The study outlines briefly the basic markings in Latin script development in Early Modern Age and especially the beginnings of the German Neogothic script in the municipal office of Olomouc. It focuses on spreading of script patterns from the so-called Nuremberg Scribal School, the influence of which can be traced in the Olomouc office even in the latter half of the 16th century. Among the municipal books of Olomouc, written by the end of the 16th century, there is a strong and remarkable handwriting in the Order of the Municipal Scale (Wag Ordununge) from 1599, its script is the object of the analysis in this study. The municipal book was written by the Olomouc municipal scribe, Master Pavel Košinář of Všelis (Wsselis), also known as Velinsky, who worked in the municipal office in Olomouc between 1596–1600. The whole book is written in the German Neogothic script, the Fraktur. In the concluding part of the study, the author carries out a model analysis to compare the handwriting of the scribe Pavel Košinář and the handwriting of the important representative of the Scribal School of Nuremberg Wolfgang Fugger. As a model for the Fugger’s hand-writing, his textbook Ein nutzlich und wolgegrundt formular, manncherley schöner schriefften,…, published in Nuremberg in 1553, is used. Based on this comparative analysis, it can be stated that there is a significant conformity between the model German Neogothic handwriting by Wolfgang Fugger, or more precisely the Scribal School of Nuremberg, and the handwriting of the same type used by Pavel Košinář-Velinský of Všelis, which may point to Košinář’s knowledge of the Nuremberg type.
