Summary/Abstract: "Short-sightedness" in insurance may contribute to a significant overbuilding of the insurance market as a result of maintaining an attractive rate of return on capital and increasing capital requirements. On the one hand, this will result in an overall increase in the price of insurance coverage, while on the other hand it will lead to a narrowing of insurance coverage by excluding the most capital-intensive products.
