Summary/Abstract: The article explores the chronotopic imagination and multitemporality of the prose of the medieval Spanish writer Don Juan Manuel, in the story of the greatest artistic success of the collection of El Conde Lucanor, Enxiemplo XI, through two opposing chronotope, the chronotope of the city of Toledo and the chronotope of the illusion of the trip of the protagonists to the Papal Court. Through the analysis of these formal and content units, as well as functional and semantic, literary and non-literary chronotopes, we point to the most important narrative strategies and the reciprocity of the relationship between space and time in the story, as well as the the art of storytelling through which the author, based on a familiar and unoriginal plot, achieves a surprising effect and exceptional forcefulness.
