Summary/Abstract: At the beginning of the last century, the idea of developing uniform and humane rules in armed conflict was reflected in both the Hague Conventions of 1899 and 1907 and the Geneva Conventions of 1949 and their additional protocols. In international armed conflicts, the issue of the protection of civilians, civillian status, the internment of civillians and the rights of civilians, in particular, has been the subject of the 1949 Geneva Convention No. IV on the Protection of Civilians during War, which forms the backbone of our article. The right to life, the right to health, the right to personal freedom and security, the freedom of religion and conscience, the right to education and the right to work, which civilians enjoy even during international armed conflicts, are just a few of the points that the Convention addresses. All these issues will be discussed in the context of the Convention in the following pages.
