Summary/Abstract: The present study aims to bring back into focus the legal content of the concept of „successor” in the context of a criminal trial caused by the commission of a crime resulting in the death of the victim. At the same time, it examines the limits of the transfer to the successors of the rights recognized to their author and how they can exercise the procedural rights thus born during the criminal investigation phase, with the presentation of the correlative obligations of the investigation bodies. The paper also deals with the specifics of the participation as civil parties in the criminal process of the successor who suffered damages as a result of the crime that is the object of the criminal action and the set of rights recognized to them in order to compensate for the respective damages.
