Summary/Abstract: In the context of recurrent debates regarding the revision of the Constitution, the study deals with a dimension of the fundamental law that is less discussed at the national level, namely that of commitment between generations. In this light, an invitation is issued to reflect on the values that constitute the hard core of the Constitution, with their meaning and the legal consequences attached to this meaning, as well as on the catalog of fundamental rights contained in the Constitution, with special reference to the protection of the natural environment and the cultural-identity elements, vital for the development of future generations. The conclusion of the study is that the revision of the Constitution involves an extended dialogue at the level of Romanian society, a dialogue that should be placed in the paradigm of the question: what legacy do we leave to future generations?
