Summary/Abstract: Regardless of the reason (ab intestat succession, company or partnership dissolution, etc.), goods and chattels may end up as part of a bona vacantia. Despite the fact that the succession has its origin in Roman times, the manner in which goods are distributed differ from one legal system to another. In this paper we will briefly discuss about the resemblances and differences on how vacant goods are treated in the Romanian legal system (civil law), and in the British legal framework (common law).
