Summary/Abstract: The article debates Pierre-Marc de Biasi’s opinion that genetic research should berestricted “to the last two or three centuries.” The author first delineates the mainconditions for the creative process in the early modern period, so as to then discuss thepeculiarities of the circulation of literary texts in the seventeenth century by reviewingsome of the resulting postulates for the study of the legacy of this period. The reviewof the above serves the author to formulate several questions and provide someanswers regarding the gripping limits of the process of text formation, thus proposinga classification for documents on the genesis of ancient texts.
