Summary/Abstract: The article is devoted to selected problems connected with the legal protection system in Germany. The author synthetically presents the history of development of legal protection insurance in Germany, focusing mainly on the insurers’ practice, as well as on the supervisor’s opinions and the most impor- tant decisions. Then the study comments on significant regulations of the German act on the insurance contract which are related to legal protection insurance. The last issue discussed by the author is the important problem of relations between legal protection insurance and third party liability insurance prepared from the point of view of the German doctrine
