Analysis of modifications of bonus-malus systems in autocasco motor insurance as exemplified by the selected insurance company

Summary/Abstract: The issues discussed in the article are connected with the bonus-malus system, which plays an impor- tant role in motor insurance. It involves the need to assess its effectiveness. What inspired the research was the decision taken in 2012 by Towarzystwo Ubezpieczeń i Reasekuracji Warta SA to resign from the traditional bonus-malus system. The article analyses effectiveness of the bonus-malus systems used by TUiR Warta SA in autocasco motor insurance in the years 1998-2011. It helped assess the extent to which the system functioned correctly at the insurance company in question, and showed the possible causes of the changes introduced in 2012.
