Summary/Abstract: Libraries have already been written about the democratic decline of recent years. It is the most visible political phenomenon on a global scale, and thousands of interpretations and explanations from scholars abound. What is much less present is the watchful eye on the enemies of democracy. Their fulminant success from a political point of view hides their fragility on a social or economic level. This article shows how wrong the negative approach to democratic decline is, the shortcomings of the democratic alternative, authoritarian populism, being obvious.
