Summary/Abstract: The article succinctly discusses the most important phonetic features of Slavic languages and indicates their geographical distribution. It briefly presents an area-typological view of the contemporary phonetics of Slavic languages and suggests a different division than the one resulting from historical facts (into eastern, western, and southern groups).
