Summary/Abstract: The article examines the phenomenon of identity, which is one of the key problems of the 21st century. These problems are caused by many processes of the development of the modern world, among which globalization, which gave rise to multiculturalism and, accordingly, the formation of multi identity, is especially distinguished; post-globalization, which, in turn, actualized the issues of nationalism, national, ethnic, and cultural identity; large-scale migrations caused by the high level of conflict in the modern world, wars in many regions of the world, but focused attention on the formation of Ukrainian identity and migration both within the country and outside its borders. The focus on defining identity amidst great diversity argues that it should be defined as identity. In the article, identity is defined as the process and result of self-determination of a person or group, the creation of an image of “I” and an image of “we” according to various characteristics: age, professional, sexual, racial, territorial, ethnic, national, religious, etc. At the current stage of world development, in addition to the issue of identity, identity politics is also relevant, within which people demand social recognition of their dignity and worth. Identity politics creates conditions that change culture and behavior in such a way that it is convenient and useful for everyone. Identity politics is a natural process and a response to injustice. However, it can also be a serious problem due to the fact that identity is formed on false foundations. Special attention is paid to the problem of identity politics of migrants. It was determined that integration is one of the constructive ways of adapting migrants to a new environment
