Summary/Abstract: This article discusses the course of the Polish retaliatory expedition to Moldavia, undertaken after the aggression of the hospodar Bogdan III Orbul towards Poland in the summer of 1509. The events are presented in a broad historiographical context, drawing not only on period sources, but also on 19th century studies and recent research results. The process of forming the military contingent for the campaign and the command structure are briefly presented, taking into account a previously unknown manuscript that detailed the formation of the Polish army that was established in a camp near Buchach. The paper focuses on the course of the campaign, including the recapture of Pokutia, the incursion into the territory of the Principality and the subsequent operations conducted in the region, and the march back to the Polish Kingdom, culminating in the battle of the Dniester crossing at Chocim on 4 October 1509.
