Summary/Abstract: Nikolai Roerich is an ethnographer, an expert in oriental studies, a theosophist who is noted for his activities not only in Russia, but also throughout the world. Roerich actively participated in Masonic activities, becoming known among scientists, artists and theosophists. In 1921 Roerich established the United Arts Institute and the International Art Center and a museum named after himself which was connected to the League of World Culture. As a result, societies named after Roerich were rapidly formed all over the world, one of which also started activity in Lithuania. It became one of the most important connecting parts during the spread of Oriental cultures in Lithuania in 1918–1939, and more precisely in Kaunas. This study identifies personalities who participated in the activities of the Nikolai Roerich Society and spread Eastern cultures in Lithuania. The findings presented in the study indicate that members of the Roerich Society contributed to the spread of Eastern cultures in Lithuania whose aim to spread Eastern cultures was positive and for educational purposes. The founders of the Roerich society sought to interest their students in Eastern religions, ideas, and knowledge of cultures, forming the foundations for the study and research of Eastern cultures in Lithuania. Identified members of the Society of Nikolai Roerich spread knowledge about Eastern cultures in several ways: they published the philosophical magazine “New Consciousness”, conveyed Eastern motifs and thoughts in their works, and sought to ratify the Roerich Pact, attracting many notable personalities of the time. Due to the brief existence of the organization, the lack of funds and other factors discussed in the article, the set goals were only partially successfully implemented.
