MALA SVETA GORA IN SHUMEN

Summary/Abstract: In the present work, an attempt has been made to outline the chronological limits of the origin and expansion of the rock dwellings on the Shumen Plateau. The structural model is presented - a central church at the foot of the slopes of the plateau and adjacent rock monasteries, the multiplication of which contributed to the formation of a kinovial monastic colony. The monastic community on the Shumen Plateau reached its spiritual and cultural heyday with the introduction and establishment of Hesychasm in the 13th - 14th centuries, which contributed to the formation of Mala Sveta gora in Shumen.
