Summary/Abstract: The subject of the present article is the Canon for the Virgin, for Friday, voice 5, which is of interest for hymnology with the probable acrostic phrase contained in it and the co-authorship of Pippin, Boyan and Iovo. It is suggested that Pippin was perhaps one of the scribes and followers of the first apostles Cyril and Methodius, and of their first disciples. According to the meaning of the acrophrase in canon studies, it turns out that he praised the Virgin together with some of the early hymn writers of the time of the Golden Age, i.e. he may have been their associate. His identity is still a mystery to hymnology.
