Summary/Abstract: The paper presents some hagiographic exempla of a Hungarian Dominican manuscript (Domonkos-kódex, 1517), focusing on their poetic aspects. The codex is a compilation of several hagiographical stories of Saint Dominic, edited by Antoninus Florentinus and Gerardus de Fracheto. At first the paper presents a short reception history of the texts, then it proceeds to a comparative analysis of the texts to show the complexity of this medieval form of text, and the role of the visual and acoustic elements in the process of the persuasion (rhetorical induction) and memorization.
