Summary/Abstract: In addition to being animated entities, human individuals are defined by the fact that they are endowed with consciousness and speech. As integral parts of the environment, they give names to the objects in their surrounding world and the fellow individuals who inhabit this universe. The linguistic signs employed in this respect may behave not only as opaque lexemes from the viewpoint of the signified, but also as emblems descriptive of various animated entities. Nevertheless, words are not lexically motivated units, and their arbitrariness is unanimously acknowledged. This paper analyses an alleged internal form of terms which designate personal names in opposition to the semantic void of lexemes designating classes of objects. The methodology consists of theoretical information pertaining to philosophy of language, pragmatics, and onomastics.
