Summary/Abstract: The translation of comics is a current research topic, which is attracting more and more interest from translators. The problem posed during this article aims at fidelity in translation, having as goal the identification of the techniques and the processes of translation of the onomatopoeias in the first album Asterix the Gaul, by comparing the original text and the texts translated into Romanian and English, and to highlight the challenges encountered in translating them. As a method, we propose the contrastive analysis concerning the translation of onomatopoeia, an important place in the process of the translation of a comic strip. We want to highlight the cultural specificities of comics, because each country has developed its own type of comics, for example comics, manga, fumetti. We will conclude by recalling the fact that the phenomenon of the translation of comics represents a base that can be widely exploited by any interested person and the wealth of theoretical support and a remarkable tool for any analysis.
